Just saw on the news here in Austria an example of Sharia Law: a 26-year old Iranian refused to marry some guy. So he pours acid over her face. She was left blind and with horrible scars on her face. Imagine a victim of a botched face transplant.
According to Sharia law, she is allowed to pour acid on him. Like, legally. An Iranian court decided in her favor. The whole revenge-a-spectacle was all set to go - in a hospital with green-clad doctors standing by - when she declines and forgives the guy. She would like financial compensation though.
Ameneh Bahrami has published a book, “An Eye for an Eye” about her experience.
